How confusing it was to be alive in the year 2020 when the city was covered in Darkness. Light refused to shine, civilization was compromised, battling an unseen enemy! No weapons or swallowing Nukes could end these uncertainties. After spending trillions on Defense, the World could not fire any ammunition toward her enemy. But Ellen was struggling, working around the clock to make ends meet. After the day was over, very few customers showed up at her shop. It was time to go home and reflect on these hard periods; while she entered her home, Ellen realized food was over. The home was nothing but an empty void of darkness without food. All she had was a bottle of water, and she walked towards the bed. It was a cold evening. On her bed, she was hoping for a miracle in a time of social distancing. She was always far from people but helped most in silence.
Lockdown has already turned her days upsidedown. There are people out there suffering; but some are doing a wonderful job by serving the poor, judging the full order will be misleading but it takes a million to establish peace but needs only a minor crack to destroy that standing peace in ease. Ellen was the symbol of love and Peace. In deep hunger, her body turning into Noodles, she chooses to go deep!
Shops closed, Eyes closed, & Dreams shattered, nobody was welcomed in the global rotting Society. But a legend would come back to visit his Home. Nature could connect them from a million Light-Years away! But never in a million years, anyone thought he could meet in real-time. He has found his way back home, screaming in terror, no; no living soul could understand. Vincent van Gogh was walking in the city of Amsterdam. Witnessing the sky and her beauty. He was facing upwards. But not living souls were almost to be found outdoor. He was a thirsty bird, seeking for water. On his left, he witnessed a shop that would provide him a drink. He entered the store, in the hopes of Water.
‘Good morning, what’s your name?’ asked van Gogh with a delightful smile!
‘I’m fine. Wow, you’re the first customer for the day! How can I help you?’ asked Ellen.
Ellen was staring at the strange man; a weird hat, orange-red beard, lacking his left ear, his glittering light blue eyes were beautifully confusing!
‘May I have some water, please?’ asked van Gogh. ‘Yes, of course, the fridge is all yours, just kidding it’s too cold, would you love to have a normal bottle of Gürpınar?’ asked Ellen. ‘Yes, sounds fantastic!’ said van Gogh.
While she was off to get the bottle of water beside her desk, van Gogh reached out to his pocket. He realized, nothing was left, and the cash that he brought with him had been out of Date. He quickly apologized to her. ‘I am extremely sorry, I can’t pay you for this, I have nothing left, would you mind if I exit the shop?’ asked van Gogh.
‘No, it’s okay; you can have my bottle of water; you don’t have to pay!’ said Ellen. ‘That’s so sweet of you, but how can I repay you?’ asked van Gogh.
‘You don’t have to, but I have a question though, have we met before?’ asked Ellen.
‘Not actually, but you might have seen me, many people search for me!’ said van Gogh.
Ellen was puzzled, in a bitter confusion. She was about to say goodbye but he spoke out, ‘Could please explain the current situation?’ asked van Gogh.
‘We are facing hard times, you should have known about it by now, who are you?’ asked Ellen.
‘I am nobody, I came to visit my home, The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, It’s a beautiful building covered with glass and walls, I tried to visit that place but they did not let me in as I was refused entry, after that, I was resting below the tree, I guess art is also practicing social distancing from his Creator, but they asked me to leave; I have walked a long way and met you, a kind lady who offered a drink.’ said van Gogh.
‘Happy to be apart of your sadness. Everything is closed now so you won’t be able to make an entry,’ said Ellen.
‘Natural life is the brief story of mankind in Mist and Snow among the shadows,’ said van Gogh.
Ellen did not understand the reference, so she carried on working while he was busy staring at things in the shop. At one point, his eyes fell on the painting equipment. He reached out to Ellen as nobody was in the shop; he asked her if he could use those paints. Ellen said, ‘Those are too expensive, I’m afraid I can’t offer you those for free.’ He reached for his pocket, but this time realizing that he could pay, van Gogh gladly handed over them to her.
‘I would love to repay the bottle of water! I would love to offer you my artwork, would you mind if I painted you in this paper?’ asked van Gogh.
‘Sure, where would you like me to stand?’ Ellen replied with a confusing tone.
‘This place will do, all I need is your face with a welcoming smile,’ said van Gogh.
He started painting her, nobody was around; a pin-drop silence in the shop. As the time flew by, he said, ‘This is my last gift to the kindest human living on earth, I give it to you as the symbol of Love & Peace; keep it with you. Hang it in your bedroom; my time is over and now I have to leave.’ said van Gogh.
He handed over the Portrait to Ellen. Within a blink of an eye, she realized it was Vincent van Gogh. Ellen burst into tears staring at the Portrait, as her drops were crawling down her cheeks. For the last time she looked forward but saw nobody, he was gone, gone forever!
Suddenly the alarm started ringing. Ellen jumped out of the bed and realized her eyes were soaking wet; in disappointment, she left her bed at six in the morning. She could not believe what she has witnessed in her stupid dreams. After a while, she realized, the stomach was growling! Ellen touched her belly and said, ‘Yea, I know we didn’t have food last night.’
Ellen freshened up and left for her shop early in the morning. She was hoping to grab a quick meal from her shop and have breakfast beforehand, as it was getting difficult for her to bear the hunger pangs. As if her inner cells were at War! While she was on her way, Ellen was recalling her dream, and moving forward, she said to herself, ‘It’s just a stupid dream.’
Around seven in the morning, she reached her shop, it was opened early for everyone! Ellen reached out for some food and kept a bottle of water to herself. She was waiting for customers; staring out from the Window, her cheek resting on the right hand. She saw a man looking towards the sky and her beauty. His face was upwards! Ellen was confused. At one point he looked towards her shop, he was coming closer and closer. Now she can see the strange man; a weird hat, orange-red beard, lacking his left ear, his glittering light blue eyes walking towards her. He entered in high hopes and said with a delightful smile, ‘Good morning, what’s your name?’
